Chuck Inglish and Mikey Rocks recently announced that they are indeed reuniting as The Cool Kids. This is welcome news for hip hop fans who fell in love with their aesthetic and sound nearly 10 years ago. Their most recent release comes in the form of a loose track titled, “Connect Four,” it’s almost like they picked up right where they left off. Peep “Connect Four” above and stay tuned for more from The Cool Kids as 2017 gets into full swing.
Chuck Inglish & Sir Michael Rocks just dropped some newness via Viper Magazine. Released under the new moniker “Chuck & Mike” (No more Cool Kids?), the record feels like it picks up right where we left off. Any hip hop lover who grew up in the 2000s was probably influenced by The Cool Kids in one way or another, be it fashion, production, or simply being yourself. Chuck’s signature production is all over this one and Mikey puts forth one of his best verses in recent memory. It’s been a nice hiatus for the once mighty duo, hopefully this is a sign of more to come. Check out “Super Squad” below and keep an eye out for more from Chuck & Mike.
Location: 1375 W Lake Street, Chicago
When: Thursday, June 19th @ 6PM
Asher Roth will be in Chicago tomorrow for a show at the Bottom Lounge. Coming off RetroHash, Asher is no longer “that dude that made I Love College“, his sound now is much more developed. The event will also see performances from Chuck Inglish of The Cool Kids and Chicago’s own Show You Suck. This will definitely be a good night, general admission tickets are on sale now for $15 while VIP Meet & Greet passes can be bought for $35. This one’s 17+, if you’re thinking about going you should grab your tickets before it’s too late.
A tad late with this one, but On The Grind Management recently posted a dope recap visual for Mic Terror’s release party. The event was held at the Hard Rock Cafe in Chicago and featured live performances from Taylor Bennett, Caleb James, The Cool Kids and the man Mic himself. Peep the visual above and keep an eye out for more from Mic and the guys at Treated.
After a long hiatus, the rap duo have officially announced their new album, Shark Week. The two havn’t released anything since, When Fish Ride Bicycles, which was released in 2011. It has been just about three years, and it is exciting to see this actually happening. The two stated that if they were to come back and release another album, that they would drop the name Cool Kids…as of right now, it appears they have kept it. Stay tuned for more in 2014 from The Cool Kids, and here is a little sneak peak below.
The Chicago emcee/producer just released his five track EP, Easily. About a month ago here at MADE, we gave everyone a little heads up, as Chuck debuted the track, “Came Thru/Easily”. Just because we are so nice, here it is again incase you missed it.
The five track EP features Chuck’s signature sound with simple but heavy drum and bass, taking it back to the basics; but yet, once again he brings the heat on this one. Right now the EP is only available on iTunes for just over $5. We have always been a big fan of Chuck and the Cool Kids as their music bangs out parties and shows. God damn though, we had to turn Swervin wayyyyyyyy up.
Stay tuned for more as Chuck releases his solo album, Convertibles, on February 11th, 2014.
This video is the latest from the Blended Babies Music Group. The video and instrumentation itself are done really well by them, creating a real chill-psychedelic vibe throughout. The song from beginning to end, matched with the video had me putting it on repeat. Asher and Chuck come in this track and leave it with their presence noticeably felt. Press play and observe.
Chuck Inglish’s latest EP, Easily, features a five set track-list, that to say the least, has phenomenal production value to it. Between the percussion and bass lines, this track bumps! His full-length debut album, Convertibles, is due February 11th of next year, so stay tuned.
