Chance The Rapper has been on fire since the release of his critically acclaimed mixtape, Coloring Book. Leading up to it’s release, the Chicago rapper could often be seen wearing a simple snap back hat with a stitched number 3 on the front, it was even the face of his promotional campaign. Now it appears Chance has decided to double up by making the infamous hat available to the public via various New Era accounts. These should be on shelves now for $45 bucks, they sold out instantly on Chance’s merch website, so your best bet is to pray for a restock or stalk your local New Era retailer.
Alex Wiley has been a little quiet since his very public breakup with his old label Closed Sessions. After the dust from the Twitter war settled, Wiley has emerged appearing just as hungry as ever with a tour on the way and a project on the horizon. A few days ago he posted a new track to Soundcloud titled “Navigator Truck,” one can only hope that it’s a sneak peak into his upcoming Village Party 2. With a feature from Calez and an especially sharp Chance The Rapper, “Navigator Truck” is a solid record that definitely has us ready for more. Check out the track below and keep an eye out for Village Party 2 which is due out November 20th.
With the official release of his album, Mr. Wonderful, Action Bronson has decided to release a new video for his track “Baby Blue.” Bronson once again crafts a hilarious music video with a parody of Eddie Murphy’s classic comedy, Coming To America. With cameos from Big Body, strong-woman Jill Rudison, and Chance The Rapper; the video makes for quite the entertaining experience. “Baby Blue” is an early crowd favorite from Mr. Wonderful, you can expect to hear this track a lot throughout the upcoming summer. Check out the official music video above and be on the look out for more from Action Bronson.
As we enter March, the anticipation for Action Bronson’s debut album, Mr. Wonderful, is reaching a fever pitch. In the last month, Bronsolini has dropped 4 tracks from off of the album and they’re all really good. For the 4th single, Bronson enlists the help of Chicago’s own Chance The Rapper who puts forth a solid hook and verse. Action flares direction and substance with this track, sometimes his songs sound like awesomely insane action movie fantasies; this record follows a path. With Mr. Wonderful due out March 24th, you’ve got to wonder if he has any more tricks up his sleeves. Check out “Baby Blue” below and be on the look out for more from Action Bronson.
A couple of days ago, Lil Herb dropped the visual for the remix of his track “Fight of Flight”. Filmed on the Eastside, Herbo receives a hell of a feature from Common along with Chance The Rapper. Although 2014’s murders have been down compared to 2012 per-say, Chicago’s Southside continues to be plagued by gang/drug violence and something needs to give. Check out the video for “Fight or Flight” above and stay tuned for more.
As the hype surrounding this year’s XXL Freshman continues to build, it’s time for the annual round of cyphers. In part 1, Chance The Rapper, Kevin Gates, Isaiah Rashad, Vic Mensa and August Alsina all take a turn showcasing their bars. It’ll be interesting to see if the next group kicks things up a notch, peep the visual above and stay tuned for part 2.
Chicago producer duo The BaCKPaCKers sent some newness our way in the form of a mash-up featuring Chance The Rapper & Gucci Mane. “Coast 2 Coast” is a juke heavy jam that’s right on time for your next house party. These dudes are quickly becoming one of my favorite production teams in either city, check out the record below and keep an eye our for more.
There’s no denying that Chance The Rapper had an incredible 2013 as he continues to ride the wave of Acid Rap well into 2014. With the release of XXL’s annual “Top 10 Freshmen” list last week, it was a no-brainer that Chance was going to be on the cover. Just like in past years, XXL now runs down the list with a freestyle from each artist. Chance’s is definitely one of the most unique we’ve seen, listen closely cuz the kid spits somethin serious for his segment.
A few hours ago “Childs Play” was released for all of our listening pleasures. This track starts out with a relaxed beat laced with SZA’s vocals. About halfway through it coasts right into Chance’s verse and eventually flows into their harmonies around the 2:30 mark to make for one complete track. Hopefully we see more collaborations like this one in the near future.
