[MADE] Recap – Pizza Luce Block Party 2014

This year’s Pizza Luce Block Party was definitely one of the better, if not the best block parties of the season. Good beers, great music, beautiful weather and all around good vibes made up the day.

Every artist that performed, put on a hell of a show in their own respects. With acts such as Charlie Parr, GRRRL PRTY, Carnage, Dem Atlas, Heiruspecs, and Black Market Brass Band — we witnessed a variety of the cities talented musicians.

The crowd was hyped from the get go and never seemed to let up. With inflatable giant beach balls bouncing around for hours, it definitely added a nice element to the experience by learning to not spill and keep your head up. With Pizza Luce strongly focused on having some of the cities up and comers and seasoned vets; Luce will definitely have us back for next years party. Lets just hope they never have a ticket system again though, waiting in a line to get into another line is never convenient.

[MADE] Recap – Carnage the Executioner with Toki Wright x Big Cats @ Mears Park

dRouzYesterday, we hopped across the river to St. Paul for what ended up being a great evening of music. Carnage the Executioner, Toki Wright and Big Cats all performed at the newly developed Mears Park in Lowertown. After dodging some scattered thunderstorms and ominous clouds, the evening went rather well in the park.

Carnage displayed his love for the community by inviting people up from the crowd to perform with him; the Carmmunity was perfect for the atmosphere, and some dope beats were mixed live on the spot. Shortly after, we received a nice set from Big Cats and Toki Wright to end the night right.

Soundset Mega Cypher w/ Slug, P.O.S, Metasota, Carnage & More

Legendary host and hip hop guru, Sway; recently set up his Sway In The Morning radio show at Fifth Element resulting in some ill shit. You may have seen the Toki Wright x Greg Grease x Allan Kingdom interview/freestyle, now we bring you the mega cypher. Rhymesayers was definitely in the building offering up some of the city’s best MCs for this one. In order of appearance: Slug, P.O.S, Muja Messiah, Lioness, Metasota, Carnage, Joe Horton and MaLLy all dish out some nice bars off the top. In my opinion, Metasota, Lioness & Carnage shine the brightest, but that doesn’t take away from anyone else; they all did their thing.

Carnage The Executioner: Up Close and Merciful @ Dakota Jazz Club

The Dakota Jazz Club is one of our favorite venues specifically because of events like this one. Carnage, the ever talented beat-boxer, will be performing live with a 4-piece band, The Last Band Standin’. For those who have seen Carnage perform live, you know this is a brand new direction that he’s headed and we are very excited to see what’s to come for the respected musician. There is little to none who can perform like Carnage and it is great to see him put together a special night like this tonight; we are looking forward in seeing this special performance live.
