‘Ghostbusters’ and ‘The Infiltrator’ Opening in Theaters This Weekend

The long anticipated Ghostbusters reboot with Melissa McCarthy (The Heat, Spy), Kristen Wiig (The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, The Martian), Kate McKinnon (Ted 2, Finding Dory), and Leslie Jones (Saturday Night Live, Trainwreck) is now playing in theaters nationwide. Director Paul Feig (Bridesmaids, The Heat) has faced some harsh opposition to rebooting the series, but the film is still expected to earn a large haul at this weekend’s box office. Picking up 30 years after the last installment, a new female crew of ‘busters reopens the original location and works to rid New York of its paranormal residents. Original actors Bill Murray (Caddyshack, Stripes), Dan Aykroyd (The Blue Brothers, Tommy Boy), Ernie Hudson (Joy of Sex, The Crow), Sigourney Weaver (Alien, Avatar), and Annie Potts (Jumpin’ Jack Flash, Toy Story) are all expected to make cameo appearances throughout the film, so it should be a pretty fun summer blockbuster. Also opening in theaters this weekend is a new drama from director Brad Furman (The Lincoln Lawyer, Runner Runner) called The Infiltrator. Continue reading

New Comedy ‘The Boss’ Opening In Theaters This Friday

Comedy power-couple Melissa McCarthy (The Heat, Spy) and writer/director Ben Falcone (Bridesmaids, Enough Said) will be back on big screens this Friday with a new comedy called The Boss. The two co-wrote the screenplay with longtime collaborator Steve Mallory (Tammy, Identity Thief) about an industry titan who is sent to prison for insider training and runs into some old colleagues who haven’t so quickly forgotten how she screwed them over. Starring alongside McCarthy are actors Kristen Bell (Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Frozen), Peter Dinklage (The Station Agent, Game of Thrones), Ella Anderson (The Giant Mechanical Man, Unfinished Business), Tyler Labine (Tucker and Dale vs Evil, Rise of the Planet of the Apes), and Kathy Bates (Misery, Titanic). Although McCarthy comedies tend to be either hit or miss, this one will still make a fun date night for the weekend, so see it on the big screen starting this Friday, April 8th.

The new movie is written and directed by Paul Feig (The Office, Bridesmaids) with co-writer Katie Dippold (MADtV, Parks and Recreation), and takes place 30 years after the original films, when a new group of unlikely heros steps up to save New York from paranormal forces. ‘Zoolander 2’ Now Playing In Time For Valentine’s Day

This Valentine’s Day weekend will see plenty of big screen features released for you and your date to go and see for your big date night outings. First up is the new comic-book adaptation for Deadpool with Ryan Reynolds (Safe House, Self/Less) and Morena Baccarin (Heartland, Spy), which, considering it’s an R-rated comic adaptation, has many fans waiting in high anticipation for last night’s midnight showing. The second up is the long awaited comedy sequel Zoolander 2, featuring Ben Stiller (Dodgeball, Meet the Parents), Owen Wilson (Old School, Wedding Crashers), Penelope Cruz (Blow, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides), Kristen Wiig (Bridesmaids, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty), Benedict Cumberbatch (The Imitation Game, Black Mass), and Will Ferrell (Superstar, Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy). This time out, supermodels Derek and Hansel must join forces once again to stop an opposing company lead by longtime rival Mugatu (Ferrell) from putting them out of business. Ben Stiller got behind the director’s chair for the new film, and also co-wrote the movie with screenwriters Justin Theroux (Tropic Thunder, Iron Man 2), Nicholas Stoller (Fun With Dick and Jane, The Five-Year Engagement), and John Hamburg (Along Came Polly, I Love You Man). The trailer is available here on MADE. Enjoy your Valentine’s Day weekend!

New Comedy With Tina Fey and Amy Poehler ‘Sisters’ Opening In Theaters This Friday

For those who are boycotting Hollywood’s ‘Re-make Era’ or simply have no interest in sitting in a jam-packed theater this Friday night with a bunch of kids and teenagers trying to see the new Star Wars feature, a new comedy with Golden Globe co-hosts Tina Fey (Mean Girls, 30 Rock) and Amy Poehler (Saturday Night Live, Parks and Recreation) titled Sisters can offer you the perfect alternative! Working with director Jason Moore (Everwood, Pitch Perfect) from a script by Emmy winner Paula Pell (Saturday Night Live, The Oscars), the comedy vets pose as sisters (appropriately) who decide to throw one last party in their old family home before their parents finally sell it. Also making appearances in the film are actors Maya Rudolph (Bridesmaids, Inherent Vice), Ike Barinholtz (Disaster Movie, Neighbors), James Brolin (Traffic, Catch Me If You Can), Diane Wiest (The Lost Boys, I Am Sam), John Cena (The Marine, Trainwreck), and John Leguizamo (The Lincoln Lawyer, Chef). I wouldn’t really expect this one to be fall-on-your-ass comedy, but Fey and Poehler are excellent comedic vets and work really well together, so if you’re not in the long line to see The Force Awakens, I would definitely give this one some consideration. Enjoy!

Ridley Scott’s ‘The Martian’ With Matt Damon Now Playing In Theaters

Fresh off its last festival stop at the Toronto International Film Festival, the latest blockbuster from Oscar-winner Ridley Scott (Gladiator, Prometheus), The Martian, is now playing in theaters across the country. Based on the book by author Andy Weir, the film features an all-star cast led by Matt Damon (The Bourne Identity, The Departed), including Jessica Chastain (Interstellar, A Most Violent Year), Kristen Wiig (Bridesmaids, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty), Jeff Daniels (Speed, The Newsroom), Michael Pena (End of Watch, Fury), Sean Bean (The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, Game of Thrones), Kate Mara (House of Cards, Captive), and Chiwetel Ejiofor (Children of Men, 12 Years A Slave). Screenwriter Drew Goddard (Cloverfield, World War Z) adapted the script from Weir’s book about an astronaut who becomes stranded on Mars and must survive against all odds in order to return to his family on Earth. Watch the trailer one more time here on MADE, then see it on the big screen this weekend!

New Trailer For ‘The Martian’ With Matt Damon Now Available

We’ve been hearing little bits and pieces of Matt Damon‘s upcoming project The Martian for some time now, and finally after months of waiting we have a new trailer!! The Departed and Bourne-series actor will be leading an all-star cast that includes Jessica Chastain (Lawless, A Most Violent Year), Kate Mara (Iron Man 2, Transcendence), Kristen Wiig (Bridesmaids, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty), Sean Bean (The Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones), Jeff Daniels (Dumb and Dumber, Speed), and Chiwetel Ejiofor (American Gangster, 12 Years A Slave) in the story about an astronaut who is left for dead on Mars by his crew and must find a way to survive and make Earth aware of his survival. This will be Damon’s second outing as an astronaut following his smaller role in Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar last year (which co-star Jessica Chastain also starred). Oscar-winner Ridley Scott (Gladiator, Prometheus) directed the project from an adaptation of author Amy Weir’s novel by screenwriter Drew Goddard (Lost, World War Z). On a personal note, both Lost and World War Z sucked hardcore in terms of everything, so having Mr. Goddard’s name attached to this film doesn’t really give me high hopes for the story, but considering Ridley Scott is behind the camera, we may still have a movie that’s worth going to see. The trailer is now available here on MADE. Look for the movie in theaters this November 25th.

Director Paul Feig Reveals Cast Of New ‘Ghostbusters’ Reboot Via Twitter

cast

Negotiations for an all-female line up for the new Ghostbusters reboot have been going on for quite a while now, and Sony Pictures finally seems to be getting close to a final line-up. Director Paul Feig (Bridesmaids, The Heat) will be leading the project from a script by writer Katie Dippold, and Feig tweeted a picture earlier this week displaying his final line-up for the comedy reboot. Actresses Melissa McCarthy (Identity Thief, Tammy), Kristen Wiig (Despicable Me, Anchorman 2), Kate McKinnon (Saturday Night Live, Intramural), and Leslie Jones (Saturday Night Live, Top Five) are all in talks to sign on for the lead roles. Sony is looking to begin filming in New York this coming summer, so production on the project will have to get underway fairly quickly if the actresses all sign on. We’ll keep an eye out for more news.

‘Ghostbusters 3’ Has Bill Murray’s Support For A Lady-Squad Of Busters!!

busters

Since the death of original writer and actor Harold Ramis earlier this year, the fate of Ghostbusters 3 has been hanging on the edge between becoming a potential hollywood-hit or a shelved might-have-been project. Bill Murray has also been pretty reluctant to go any further with the project, especially now that Ramis is out of the picture, but a recent idea from Columbia Pictures execs did manage to raise an eyebrow. The pitch is to put director Paul Feig at the helm of an all-female squad of paranormal butt-kickers for a totally new Ghostbusters film altogether, replacing a group of saggy, old men with a group of young, sexy Ladybusters! Murray was apparently really intrigued with that idea, and even provided some suggestions to the filmmakers, including Melissa McCarthy (Bridesmaids, Identity Thief), Emma Stone (SuperBad, Zombieland), Kristen Wiig (The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, Her), and Linda Cardellini (Freaks and Geeks, Grandma’s Boy). Ironically enough McCarthy and Wiig have both done work with Feig in Bridesmaids, with McCarthy also collaborating with him on Identity Thief and The Heat. Although I wouldn’t personally put McCarthy in the “sexy-squad” category, her comedy genius would definitely be a key component of a female Ghostbusters movie, and from the looks of it Murray is pretty much guaranteed not to be involved, but we’ll see what happens with final casting if we ever do get a final script written.
