lalaland

Last night the 74th annual Golden Globe Awards were held at the Beverly Hilton. Jimmy Falon hosted the event which was filled with surprises, including a politically-driven speech from Meryl Streep. But perhaps the most impressive part of the evening was the new musical from Whiplash director Damien Chazelle, La La Land, which set a new record with 7 Golden Globe awards, including Best Picture – Musical or Comedy. Ryan Gosling (Blue Valentine, The Big Short) and Emma Stone (The Help, Birdman) both took home the Globe for Best Actor/Actress in a Musical or Comedy, and Chazelle won the Globe for Best Director. La La Land also won for Best Screenplay, Best Original Score, and Best Original Song. Congratulations to all the winners! The full list of winners is provided below. Continue reading

Enjoy the New Year…And the Movies!!!

The New Year is practically here, and if you’re looking for a way to fill in some extra time off work, why not see a good movie or two? This week there is a plethora of big releases, most of which have already been released in select cities and are seeing additional expansions. Here are some notables to check out…

Live By Night

Ben Affleck’s new Prohibition-era gangster drama is now playing, but initial reviews and audience reactions have not been good. Personally I’m not a big Ben Affleck fan, but the rest of the supporting cast, including Elle Fanning and Brendan Gleason. That said, Casey Affleck and Michelle Williams both star in a new movie called Manchester by the Sea from writer/director Kenneth Lonergan, so maybe see that one instead. Continue reading

Speculation Building On Who Will Replace Daniel Craig In The Next James Bond Film

bond

With Daniel Craig (Layer Cake, Quantum of Solace) sadly stepping down from the role, speculation continues to circle the web as to who is going to replace him as the world’s most famous spy. Although MGM had reportedly offered Craig £68 million for a further two films, plus shares, inside reports have stated that Craig is simply done with the role, and is moving on. And so now must producers Barbara Broccoli (GoldenEye, The World is Not Enough) and Michael G. Wilson (For Your Eyes Only, License to Kill), along with the heads at MGM, decide on a new actor to further the franchise. The favored choice, at least according to all the rumors, is Avengers and High-Rise actor Tom Hiddleston, who has thus far denied all of the rumors, but who, I’m sure, is not completely against the idea. Another name that has come up is Aiden Turner (The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, Poldark), but according to a more recent report from the Daily Mail, Billy Eliot and Nymphomaniac star Jamie Bell is in actual talks with the producers to take over the role. ‘Danny Collins’ Now Playing In Theaters Nationwide

Al Pacino‘s new film Danny Collins is now expanding to theaters across the country. Scripted and directed by Dan Fogelman (Crazy Stupid Love, The Guilt Trip), the film finds Pacino (The Godfather, Scarface) portraying aging rock star Danny Collins, who, still enraptured in his younger rock-n-roll lifestyle, receives a never delivered letter from his manager, addressed to Collins from former Beatle John Lennon. Having read and been inspired by Lennon’s comments on life, family and friends, Collins sets out on a mission to rediscover his own family and make some long-delayed amends. Co-starring in the film is 4-time Oscar nominee Annette Bening (American Beauty, The Kids Are Alright), Golden Globe winner Jennifer Garner (Juno, Dallas Buyers Club), Bobby Cannavale (The Station Agent, Chef), and Oscar-winner Christopher Plummer (The Sound of Music, A Beautiful Mind). Check out the trailer here on MADE, then be sure to see it on the big screen!

Al Pacino’s Next Film ‘Danny Collins’ Opening In Theaters In 2015

It seems like it’s been a while since we’ve seen Oscar-winner Al Pacino grace the screen in a lead role, but next year’s directorial debut for writer/director Dan Fogelman (Cars, Crazy, Stupid Love) will see the veteran actor in just that. Pacino will appear as Danny Collins, an aging rock star who, still living his sex, drugs, and alcohol-fueld rock-n-roll lifestyle, receives a 40-year old undelivered letter from his manager that was written to him by John Lennon. Inspired by Lennon’s words, Collins sets out to make amends with his family and loved ones and begin a new period in his life. Based on a true story, the film co-stars Annette Bening (Mars Attacks!, American Beauty), Jennifer Garner (Pearl Harbor, Dallas Buyer’s Club), Bobby Cannavale (The Station Agent, Chef), and Christopher Plummer (The Sound of Music, A Beautiful Mind) as Collins’ agent. Not necessarily Scarface-material, but I’m sure Pacino will make it worth watching. You can watch the trailer here on MADE, stay tuned for an exact release date.
