Baby Shel took to Twitter last night to release his new mixtape dubbed, Baby Shel’s World. Each track on the 7 piece EP holds a distinct quality within it, one look at the credits and you’ll understand that Shel is in good hands. Shel has always been ahead of the pack with his rhyme schemes and delivery, but now he moves like a complete package. From solid hooks to bangin instrumentals to powerful verses, Baby Shel is clearly raising the stakes. Baby Shel had a hell of a year in 2015 and continues to ride that wave into 2016. The MC out of Red Lake has made leaps and bounds in the scene, most recently he played First Avenue’s main room for 2015’s Best New Bands concert. Just ahead of his upcoming EP Baby Shel’s World, Shel proceeds the hype by offering the first taste of what’s to come. Produced by KrissiO, the gritty, bass heavy instrumental is tailored for Baby Shel’s quick and relentless flow. The record really opens up during the hook drawing the listener in while simultaneously building anticipation for the next verse. If you aren’t familiar yet you should start paying attention now, check out “Baby Shel’s World” above and be on the look out for his upcoming EP.

It’s that time of year again ladies and gentleman. That’s right, First Avenue will once again host it’s annual “Best New Bands” and 2015’s event looks like a promising one. In conjunction with City Pages and Radio K, the event will feature performances from Aero Flynn, Baby Shel, Bruise Violet, Lexii Alijai, Murder Shoes, Eric Mayson, and Perfume Monster; an eclectic group that should provide a great night of local music. We’re not usually into “Best of” shows, but this lineup actually stands firm apart from years past. This show is 18+ and advance tickets are still available for only $7 ($10 @ door), click the link below to buy yours now.
