New Teaser Trailer Available For Nacho Vigolando’s ‘Colossal’ with Anne Hathaway

A new teaser trailer is available for Nacho Vigolando‘s Colossal with Anne Hathawy (The Dark Knight Rises, Interstellar). The film is currently playing at the Sundance Film Festival and is slated for a domestic release this April 7th. Colossal is a comedic action-thriller with an interesting concept. It follows Gloria, a New Yorker forced to move back to small town America after her boyfriend throws her out for her eccentric party-every-night lifestyle. Upon moving home, Gloria gets a job working at the local bar and continues her excessive drinking, until one morning she wakes up and discovers (in a state of disbelief) that Seoul, South Korea had been terrorized by a giant, Godzilla-like monster the night before. As the phenomenon progresses, she slowly comes to suspect a strange link between herself and the Korean-terrorizing monster.

Strange? Corny? Yes. Hilarious? Yes. Worth seeing? Judging even by the short teaser trailer, definitely! Spanish filmmaker Nacho Vigolando (Timecrimes, Extraterrestrial) wrote and directed the film, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival last year. The cast includes Dan Stevens (A Walk Among the Tombstones, Beauty and the Beast), Jason Sudeikis (Horrible Bosses, We’re the Millers), Tim Blake Nelson (Oh Brother Where Art Thou?, Lincoln), Austin Stowell (Whiplash, Bridge of Spies), Rukiya Bernard (Supernatural, Accidental Obsession), and Agam Darshi (2012, Sanctuary). Check back for additional trailers, and remember this one hits theaters on April 7th!

Toronto International Film Festival Headliners ‘Trumbo’ and ‘Spotlight’ Opening In Theaters This Friday

Movie-goers will have no shortage of great movies to see this weekend. Friday will not only have the chance to see The Peanuts Movie and the new James Bond installment, Spectre, but fans of festival-circuit films will also be able to see two major picks from this years’ Toronto International Film Festival. The first is the biographical drama from director Jay Roach (Meet the Parents, Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery) with Golden Globe winner Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad, Godzilla) titled Trumbo. The film follows the famous screenwriter Dalton Trumbo, who along with 300 other writers and filmmakers in Hollywood was blacklisted by the federal government during the Red Scare era of the American 1950s. Trumbo is, perhaps, one of the more interesting cases; he continued to write scripts under anonymous surnames while he was blacklisted and even won Oscars for his work on Roman Holiday (1953) and The Brave One (1956). Making up the supporting cast are actors Diane Lane (Unfaithful, Man of Steel), Helen Mirren (The Queen, The Hundred-Foot Journey), Louis C.K. (Louie, American Hustle), Elle Fanning (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Maleficent), John Goodman (The Big Lebowski, Argo), and Michael Stuhlbarg (Pawn Sacrifice, Steve Jobs), in a script adpated by John McNamara (Jericho, Aquarius) from the book Dalton Trumbo by author Bruce Cook. Steven Spielberg’s New Cold-War Drama ‘Bridge of Spies’ Opening In Theaters This Week

Finally after months of anticipation and sitting through rounds of film festivals around the globe, Oscar-winner Steven Spielberg‘s (Jaws, Saving Private Ryan) new Cold-War drama Bridge of Spies is opening on big screens across the country this week. Starring Spielberg-regular Tom Hanks (Catch Me If You Can, Forrest Gump) in the lead role, the film focuses on James B. Donovan, an attorney who was sent to Soviet Russia by the CIA in order to negotiate the release of suspected U-2 Spy Plane pilot Francis G. Powers. The script was originally penned by screenwriter Matt Charman, but was then re-worked by Oscar-winning filmmakers Joel and Ethan Coen (Oh Brother Where Art Thou?, No Country For Old Men) before Spielberg began the process of principle photography. Also starring in the film are actors Mark Rylance (The Other Boleyn Girl, Anonymous), Domenick Lombardozzi (Phone Booth, The Wire), Victor Verhaeghe (August Rush, The Wolf of Wall Street), Alan Alda (MASH, The Aviator), and Amy Ryan (Gone Baby Gone, Birdman or The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance), with Austin Stowell (Behind the Candelabra, Whiplash) starring as Powell. This will be Spielberg’s first directorial project since 2012’s Lincoln, which earned the director two Oscar-nods for Best Director and Best Picture. Look for Bridge of Spies in theaters this Friday. The trailer is available here on MADE.

Director Jerry Jameson’s ‘Captive’ Opening In Theaters This Friday

A new drama from director Jerry Jameson (Airport 77, Magnum PI) titled Captive is opening in theaters nationwide this Friday. Based on the novel An Unlikely Angel by Ashley Smith, the film tells of her 2005 encounter with Brian Nichols, who showed up at her apartment in the middle of the night and held her hostage for seven hours before letting her go and turning himself into authorities for murdering four people. Starring as Smith is Kate Mara (127 Hours, Fantastic Four), and Golden Globe winner David Oyelowo (Interstellar, Selma) as Brian Nichols. Making up the supporting cast are actors Mimi Rogers (Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery, Lost In Space), Michael K. Williams (Gone Baby Gone, 12 Years A Slave), and Jessica Oyelowo (Sleepy Hollow, Alice in Wonderland). The book was adapted for the screen by Brian Bird (The Last Sin Eater, The Confession). The trailer is available here on MADE. This one should prove to be a pretty intense watch, but with David Oyelowo included in the line-up it should turn out to be a pretty good one. Enjoy!

Steven Spielberg’s ‘Bridge of Spies’ Opening In Theaters October 16th

Steven Spielberg has been busy acting as producer to a number of projects since his last directorial feature Lincoln in 2012 with features like Transformers: Age of Extinction, The Hundred-Foot Journey, and Jurassic World. But fans will get to see his latest project featuring his Saving Private Ryan and Catch Me If You Can collaborating actor Tom Hanks open on big screens this October 16th. The film is titled Bridge of Spies and follows Hanks as attorney James Donovan, who was recruited to negotiate the release of Francis Gary Powers, a U-2 pilot who was shot down and held prisoner by the KGB under suspicion of espionage during the Cold War in 1960. Filmmaking brothers Joel and Ethan Coen (The Big Lebowski, No Country For Old Men) were brought on to rewrite the original screenplay before principle photography began on the film, which stars Amy Ryan (Gone Baby Gone, Birdman), Mark Rylance (The Other Boleyn Girl, Blitz), Austin Stowell (Love and Honor, Whiplash), and Alan Alda (MASH, The Aviator). Seeing as it was produced by Walt Disney Pictures, I think that Spielberg intentionally steered away from a lot of Restricted-content (and it did, in fact, receive a PG-13 rating), but with Hanks in the spotlight it should prove a solid endeavor all the same. Last time we heard about this one a poster had just become available via twitter, but now the full length trailer is available here on MADE! Enjoy!

In Theaters Today….

Starting today movie-goers can see some big summer flicks opening on the big screen. First up is the new comedy Pixels with Adam Sandler (Billy Madison, Mr. Deeds), Kevin James (The King of Queens, Grown Ups), Michelle Monoghan (Eagle Eye, True Detective), Josh Gad (21, The Wedding Ringer), and Peter Dinklage (The Station Agent, Game of Thrones). As I’m sure you are aware, Sandler and company will be joining up to defend Earth from an alien invasion of Nintendo characters like Donkey Kong and Pac-Man. Stupid? Yes, but so was Happy Gilmore, Austin Powers, and Hot Tub Time Machine, and they were all hilarious, so don’t be too quick to judge. Also opening in theaters today is the new boxing drama from Sons of Anarchy writer Kurt Sutter, Southpaw, with Jake Gyllenhaal (October Sky, Prisoners), Rachel McAdams (The Time Traveler’s Wife, Wedding Crashers), and Forest Whitaker (Phone Booth, The Last King of Scotland). This one is definitely not your easy-going comedy like Pixels, but with Kurt Sutter behind the pen and a strong cast line-up it should turn out to be a good watch. Enjoy the weekend!

New Poster Available For Upcoming Steven Spielberg Drama ‘Bridge of Spies’ With Tom Hanks

bridge

The upcoming drama from Oscar-winning director Steven Spielberg (Saving Private Ryan, Lincoln) and Walt Disney Pictures titled Bridge of Spies has just released a new poster to prep audiences for the upcoming October release. Working from a script that was revised for the final cut by Joel and Ethan Coen (The Big Lebowski, No Country For Old Men), Spielberg directs leading man Tom Hanks (Forrest Gump, The DaVinci Code) in the story of James Donovan, who negotiated the release of downed U-2 pilot Francis Gary Powers, who was being held under suspicion of espionage by the KGB in 1960. Also appearing in the film are actors Amy Ryan (Gone Baby Gone, Birdman), Mark Rylance (The Other Boleyn Girl, Blitz), Austin Stowell (Love and Honor, Whiplash), and Alan Alda (MASH, The Aviator). With a poster already out and seeing as we’re this far into post-production we should see a trailer release sometime in the near future. My biggest concern is that this is pretty adult-content subject matter for Disney to be covering… hopefully they’re letting Spielberg have most of the artistic control on this one. Stay tuned.
