Viceland recently released the second episode of their Noisey series, this installment took a closer look at Atlanta’s ever-rising hip hop scene. Once one of the city’s best kept secrets, photographer Cam Kirk has seen great success over the last few years photographing/documenting some of Atlanta’s most prominent artists. Lil Yachty has been everywhere as of late, the young artist started the summer with an appearance on XXL’s annual Top 10 Freshmen list, and has continued to rise the ranks into stardom. Earlier this year he performed “Minnesota” for the first time in Minnesota, which will go down as arguably one of the most insane shows of the year; and now he’s back with Summer Songs 2. The Atlanta based artist doubles down on his sound giving the people exactly what they want, MORE YACHTY! Atlanta is definitely the hottest city in hip hop right now, from Future to Playboi Carti to Raury to ILoveMakonnen; there is a no shortage of talent on every level. Of all the artists currently on the rise, Lil Yachty has recently taken huge strides, everything he’s touching turns into internet fire. Flex music as they call it, Playboi Carti & Lil Yachty do it well, Yachty shows off on his verse switching flows with ease. Minneapolis’ current scene is a melting pot of talent, 2015 proved that when well established local artists began to break national boundaries. 1/4 of thestand4rd, Bobby Raps is no stranger to the road and continues to garner praise from across nation. His most recent collaboration comes in the form of a feature on Key!’s new track “Say No Mo,” an autotune heavy ballad about those who think the game has changed them.
