New Sci-Fi Thriller ’10 Cloverfield Lane’ Opening In Theaters This Friday

A new sci-fi thriller called 10 Cloverfield Lane is opening in theaters this Friday, March 11th, 2016. Although you might recognize the title, aside from the name, there is apparently no other connection to the original 2008 thriller Cloverfield, which involved a monster of sorts attacking the residents of New York City. This new movie comes from director Dan Trachtenberg from a script by screenwriters Josh Campbell (The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, Van Helsing), Matthew Stuecken (The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra), and Damien Chazelle (Grand Piano, Whiplash) about a woman who is involved in a car accident and is held in a shelter by two men who believe the world has been affected by a widespread chemical attack. Starring in the film are actors John Goodman (The Big Lebowsky, Argo), Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Live Free or Die Hard, Death Proof), John Gallagher (Margaret, The Newsroom), Douglas M. Griffin (Dallas Buyers Club, 12 Years A Slave), Suzanne Cryer (Wag the Dog, Silicon Valley), Bradley Cooper (Silver Linings Playbook, The Hangover), and Sumalee Montano (Nashville, Veep). The trailer is available here on MADE; check it out on the big screen this weekend!

New Full Length Trailer For ‘Batman Vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice’ Now Available

Last week fans were able to catch a sneak peak at a scene from the upcoming Batman Vs Superman: Dawn of Justice, due out in March 2016. The film is the follow up to director Zack Snyder‘s Man of Steel and the precursor to Warner Bros./DC Comics upcoming Justice League movie, which will follow the next year in 2017. Most of the supporting cast from Man of Steel will be reprising their roles, including Henry Cavill (Stardust, The Man From UNCLE) as Superman, Amy Adams (American Hustle, Big Eyes) as Lois Lane, Diane Lane (Unfaithful, Trumbo), and Michael Shannon (World Trade Center, Revolutionary Road), with newcomers Ben Affleck (Argo, The Town) as Batman, Gal Gadot (Fast Five, Furious 7), Jason Momoa (Game of Thrones, Conan the Barbarian), Jesse Eisenberg (The Social Network, Zombieland), Holly Hunter (The Piano, Oh Brother Where Art Thou?), Jeremy Irons (The Man in the Iron Mask, Die Hard with a Vengeance), and Laurence Fishburne (Apocalypse Now, The Matrix) also joining the cast. The new trailer introduces the major players, including Eisenberg’s Lex Luther and a glimpse of Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, and also of the opposing relationship between Batman and Superman and the political storm surrounding crime in Metropolis and Gotham City. Check out the full trailer here on MADE, and as always, enjoy!

New Trailer Offers Sneak-Peak Footage For Upcoming ‘Batman Vs Superman: Dawn of Justice’

A new trailer has just been released for director Zack Snyder‘s upcoming Batman Vs Superman: Dawn of Justice. The film will be the follow up to Snyder’s Man of Steel (2013), with Henry Cavill (Stardust, The Man from UNCLE) and Oscar-nominee Amy Adams (American Hustle, Big Eyes) reprising their roles as Superman and Lois Lane, and introducing Ben Affleck (The Town, Argo) in the role of Batman/Bruce Wayne. Honestly, it already looks terrible, but I’ll let you judge for yourself. In preparation for Warner Bros/DC Comics big screen production of Justice League, which is expected in theaters in 2017, the film will also introduce Gal Gadot (Fast & Furious 6, Furious 7) in the role of Wonder Woman (with an independent Wonder Woman movie also expected in theaters in 2017) and Jason Momoa (Conan the Barbarian, Bullet in the Head) in the role of Aquaman. And yes, there will be an independent Aquaman movie coming out in 2018, along with The Flash, who will be played by Ezra Miller (We Need To Talk About Kevin, The Perks of Being A Wallflower) and may be making a brief appearance in this movie. In other words, once Star Wars: The Force Awakens is out, it’s right back to milking the comic books. Also staring in the film are Oscar-nominees Diane Lane (The Perfect Storm, Unfaithful), Michael Shannon (Revolutionary Road, Boardwalk Empire), Jessie Eisenberg (The Social Network, Now You See Me), and Laurence Fishburne (Apocalypse Now, The Matrix), and Oscar-winners Holly Hunter (The Piano, Oh Brother Where Art Thou?) and Jeremy Irons (Reversal of Fortune, Die Hard with a Vengeance). Oscar-winning screenwriter Chris Terrio (Heights, Argo) and David S. Goyer (The Dark Knight Rises, Man of Steel) wrote the script that finds Batman and Superman at arms with each other while a more deadly force is steadily rising and Washington is up in arms about the presence of “super-heros” in our modern society. Considering Snyder is returning, and the impressive number of Oscar-winners working on the film, it will still more than likely be a pretty good movie. I don’t know who decided to hire Ben Affleck as Batman, but let’s just try our best to look passed it. Enjoy the footage.

Toronto International Film Festival Headliners ‘Trumbo’ and ‘Spotlight’ Opening In Theaters This Friday

Movie-goers will have no shortage of great movies to see this weekend. Friday will not only have the chance to see The Peanuts Movie and the new James Bond installment, Spectre, but fans of festival-circuit films will also be able to see two major picks from this years’ Toronto International Film Festival. The first is the biographical drama from director Jay Roach (Meet the Parents, Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery) with Golden Globe winner Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad, Godzilla) titled Trumbo. The film follows the famous screenwriter Dalton Trumbo, who along with 300 other writers and filmmakers in Hollywood was blacklisted by the federal government during the Red Scare era of the American 1950s. Trumbo is, perhaps, one of the more interesting cases; he continued to write scripts under anonymous surnames while he was blacklisted and even won Oscars for his work on Roman Holiday (1953) and The Brave One (1956). Making up the supporting cast are actors Diane Lane (Unfaithful, Man of Steel), Helen Mirren (The Queen, The Hundred-Foot Journey), Louis C.K. (Louie, American Hustle), Elle Fanning (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Maleficent), John Goodman (The Big Lebowski, Argo), and Michael Stuhlbarg (Pawn Sacrifice, Steve Jobs), in a script adpated by John McNamara (Jericho, Aquarius) from the book Dalton Trumbo by author Bruce Cook. The second Toronto International Film Festival contender opening in theaters this week is also a biographical drama titled Spotlight. This film comes from Oscar-nominated writer/director Tom McCarthy (The Station Agent, Million Dollar Arm) and chronicles the investigative journalist team at the Boston Globe that uncovered the scandal in the Catholic Church revolving around child molestation and cover-up deals within the Archdiocese. Co-written by screenwriter Josh Singer (Fringe, The Fifth Estate), the film stars Mark Ruffalo (Shutter Island, The Avengers), Michael Keaton (Batman, Birdman or The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance), Rachel McAdams (Wedding Crashers, Midnight in Paris), Liev Schreiber (Defiance, Salt), John Slattery (Mad Men, Flags of our Fathers), and Stanley Tucci (Transformers: Age of Extinction, The Hunger Games), and also received high marks at the 2015 Venice Film Festival. Either of these will make great picks to see on the big screen, so be sure to get to the movie theaters in the next week or so to see them while they are still available! The trailer for Trumbo is available here on MADE.

New Dramatic Comedy ‘Our Brand Is Crisis’ With Sandra Bullock Opening In Theaters This Week

Oscar winner Sandra Bullock (Speed, Crash), who has been lending her voice to animated comedies of late, is returning to the big screen this week in a new “dramedy” Our Brand Is Crisis. Directed by Pineapple Express and East Bound & Down director David Gordon Green, the film is a dramatization of Rachel Boynton’s 2005 documentary of the same name by Oscar-nominated screenwriter Peter Straughan (Tinkler Taylor Soldier Spy, The Men Who Stare At Goats). Bullock stars as Jane, an experienced political campaign strategist who is sent to war-torn South American to aid in the installation of a new leader, but whose efforts art threatened to be thwarted by an old political rival. Also starring in the film is Oscar winner Billy Bob Thornton (Armageddon, Monster’s Ball), with Anthony Mackie (Million Dollar Baby, Avengers: Age of Ultron), Joaquim de Almeida (Clear and Present Danger, Behind Enemy Lines), and Scoot McNairy (Argo,12 Years A Slave) included in the supporting cast. Argo producers George Clooney (The Ides of March, The Monuments Men) and Grant Heslov (Good Night and Good Luck, August: Osage County) are behind the production of the project, which thus far has drawn much praise for Bullock’s acting, but also mixed feelings about the screenplay and directing. I suppose you’ll have to decide for yourself when you see it in theaters! The movie opens on Friday. Enjoy the trailer.

Director Denis Villeneuve’s ‘Sicario’ Opening In Theaters This September 18th

Stepping away from the overdone comic-book genre that seems to be dominating big screens these days, a new film titled Sicario from Prisoners and Enemy director Denis Villeneuve will be opening in theaters this fall. The script comes from actor-turned-screenwriter Taylor Sheridan (White Rush, Sons of Anarchy) and centers upon an FBI agent who is recruited by a government task force to aid in the ongoing drug war happening at the US/Mexican border. Starring in the leading roles are actors Emily Blunt (The Adjustment Bureau, Edge of Tomorrow), Josh Brolin (No Country For Old Men, Men In Black 3), and Oscar-winner Benicio Del Toro (Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Traffic), with Jon Bernthal (The Walking Dead, The Wolf of Wall Street), Jeffery Donovan (Burn Notice, Changeling) and Victor Garber (Titanic, Argo) also appearing in the supporting cast. The film received very positive reviews and an Official Selection nod at this year’s Cannes Film Festival and will be open in theaters nationwide this September 18th, a pretty solid contender for Scott Cooper’s Black Mass with Johnny Depp, which opens the same weekend, so mark your calendars! The trailer is available here on MADE.

New Trailer For ‘Batman Vs. Superman’ Debuted At Comic-Con 2015

A lot of news was revealed at the annual Comic-Con event in San Diego this year; so much, in fact, that we’ll probably be telling you about it all week. One of the highlights of the event was the Batman Vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice panel, which featured actors Henry Cavill (The Cold Light of Day, Immortals), Ben Affleck (The Town, Argo), Gal Gadot (Entourage, Furious Seven), and Jesse Eisenberg (The Social Network, Zombieland) discussing the movie and the new (much extended) trailer that was unveiled for fans. The movie has a lot of weight resting on its shoulders. Not only will Batman be re-introduced to the big-screen after Christian Bale’s Dark Knight series ended, but Wonder Woman will also make her big-screen debut and (if DC gets their shit together and starts coordinating their superhero movie plots) will lay the groundwork for the upcoming Justice League movies. Wonder Woman is also expected to have her own independent movie coming into production and Ben Affleck has signed on for both the Justice League movies and additional independent Batman movies. Talk about milking the cow! Anyway the new trailer for Batman Vs. Superman, which is expected in theaters March 24th, 2016, is here on MADE. Enjoy!

Kevin Smith Discusses Progress On Script For New ‘Mallrats’ Sequel

mallrats

Writer/director Kevin Smith (Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, Tusk) seems to be making some solid progress on his announced upcoming sequel to Mallrats. Smith tweeted on May 11th that he has completed a 113-page draft for Mallbrats (the new title for the project) and will be dedicating it to original Mallrats producer Jim Jacks (Raising Arizona, The Mummy), who passed away just last year. Production on Clerks 3 has also been pushed back while the Mallbrats crew works on the set-production in the currently empty mall that will be used for filming. Returning for the new movie are original actors Jeremy London (Breaking Free, Levitation), Claire Forlani (The Rock, Meet Joe Black), Ethan Suplee (My Name is Earl, The Wolf of Wall Street), Joey Lauren Adams (Dazed and Confused, Big Daddy), Brian O’Halloran (Clerks, Dogma), Sven-Ole Thorsen (Lethal Weapon, Gladiator), Renee Humphrey (French Kiss, The Sex Monster), as well as Smith’s long time collaborator, actor/producer Scott Mosier (Chasing Amy, Good Will Hunting). Thus far there is no news as to whether or not Jason Lee (Almost Famous, Dreamcatcher) or Ben Affleck (Argo, Gone Girl) will return to reprise their roles, but we’ll keep you posted. Stay tuned!

New Teaser Trailer For Upcoming ‘Batman Vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice’

Even though fans still have the rest of 2015’s impressive release schedule to appease their appetites, this weekend saw a new teaser-trailer for next year’s highly anticipated Batman Vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice. Directed by Zack Snyder (300, Watchmen) and starring Henry Cavill (Immortals, Man of Steel) as Superman and Oscar-winner Ben Affleck (Argo, Gone Girl) as Batman, the film will act as both a follow-up to 2013’s Man of Steel and a pre-cursor for DC Comic’s upcoming Justice League movie(s), due out in 2017 and 2019. Screenwriters David S. Goyer (The Dark Knight Rises, Man of Steel) and Chris Terrio (Heights, Argo) penned the script for the film, which will also feature Amy Adams (The Fighter, American Hustle) as Lois Lane, Gal Gadot (Knight and Day, Fast & Furious 6) as Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa (Conan the Barbarian, Bullet in the Head) as Aquaman, Jessie Eisenberg (The Social Network, Now You See Me) as Lex Luther, Jeremy Irons (The Lion King, Die Hard With A Vengeance) as Alfred, and Diane Lane (The Perfect Storm, Unfaithful) as Martha Kent. The trailer includes a glimpse of Affleck’s Batman suit but doesn’t give any solid hints as to why Batman ends up facing off with Superman (although fans of the comics will probably have more knowledge about that!). Enjoy!

Director Kevin MacDonald’s ‘Black Sea’ Now In Theaters

Director Kevin MacDonald (The Last King of Scotland, State of Play) is best known for his work on documentaries like Touching the Void and One Day In September, which earned him an Academy Award for Best Documentary in 2000, but his next project will be a return to the motion picture genre with a new suspense-thriller called Black Sea. The film stars Academy Award nominee Jude Law (Enemy at the Gates, Cold Mountain) as a submarine captain who, let go by his former employers, sets out for a voyage amid the depths of the Black Sea in search of a lost Nazi U-boat rumored to have been carrying loads of gold. Also starring in the film are actors Scoot McNairy (Argo, 12 Years A Slave), Ben Mendelsohn (The Dark Knight Rises, Killing Them Softly), and Jodie Whittaker (St. Trinian’s, One Day). Screenwriter Denis Kelly (Utopia, Pulling) wrote the script, and it actually looks like a pretty cool thriller, so keep it in mind when you go to the movies this weekend. You can watch the trailer above.
