Rialto Pictures is a distribution company founded by Bruce Goldstein in the late 1990s that has received critical recognition for re-releasing long lost classics to the big screen. Begininning in 2002, films like Murderous Maids (2000), Mafioso (1962), Lola Montes (1955), and Made in U.S.A. (1966) have all seen restoration and release to audiences on the modern big screen, and now a new film will be joining the list this year. Director Alain Resnais’ 1959 drama Hiroshima Mon Amour is now scheduled for a wide release after appearing at the Cannes and Locarno Film Festivals last year. The film starred Emmanuelle Riva and Eiji Okada as She, a French actress, and He, a Japanese architect, and their conversations over the span of 36 hours. Argos Films, Fondation Groupama Gan, Fondation Technicolor, and Cinetga Bologna are all contributing to the restoration process, and the film can be seen in theaters this October.
