Alex Wiley has been a little quiet since his very public breakup with his old label Closed Sessions. After the dust from the Twitter war settled, Wiley has emerged appearing just as hungry as ever with a tour on the way and a project on the horizon. A few days ago he posted a new track to Soundcloud titled “Navigator Truck,” one can only hope that it’s a sneak peak into his upcoming Village Party 2. With a feature from Calez and an especially sharp Chance The Rapper, “Navigator Truck” is a solid record that definitely has us ready for more. Check out the track below and keep an eye out for Village Party 2 which is due out November 20th.
Future Fossils, the group formerly known as Kids Like Us; recently dropped a new record titled “Immortal Kombat.” Featuring Chicago’s own Alex Wiley and production from JayLap, “Immortal Kombat” is a bass heavy cruiser that makes for perfect burn cruise music. The trio proceeds to go in on the booming instrumental with a variety of flows and sharp metaphors. Future Fossils should definitely be on everyone’s radar with their highly anticipated EP, Tears of Gold on the way. They’ll be at the Zombie Pub Crawl this weekend playing at the Studio B stage, make sure to check out “Immortal Kombat” above and check them out at ZPC this Friday.
Although the first installment of the All City series may have been more expansive, All City Vol. 2 takes a larger look at Minneapolis & Chicago’s hip hop scenes, while still incorporating a few other national artists. 2014 has been a great year for music in both Chicago & Minneapolis, with a lot of creativity brewing in the Mid-West. Chicago’s hip hop scene might have taken a few hits due to artist relocation, but there are still quite a few talented musicians in the city. One of those artists is Closed Sessions MC Alex Wiley, if you’re familiar with Chicago’s music scene at all you’ve surely heard his name. Wiley recently dropped his One Singular Flame Emoji mixtape, a wide spectrum of his talents rolled up into 9 tracks. Wiley is surprisingly calm during the course of this project contrasting his often wild and animated style. A display of versatility, One Singular Flame Emoji further showcases Alex Wiley’s growth as a musician. Chicago has yet another reason to be proud, 2015 looks like it can be a big year for Wiley, check out One Singular Flame Emoji below and stay tuned for more.
Miami’s own Pouya recently took to Twitter to drop a new song titled “Heed.” Produced by Cian P, the jazzy, horn heavy track features the likes of Alex Wiley and Allan Kingdom. A trio to be reckoned with, all 3 of these artists are buzzing hard in their respective cities. “Heed” feels like an experiment among friends, the record isn’t as cohesive as one would like, but it’s still well worth a few spins. If this is what these guys call a “loose” record, we can’t wait to see what else is in the vault. Check out “Heed” above and make sure to keep an eye out for all 3 of these artists, you can expect to see a lot more of these guys in the near future.

Chicago artist Alex Wiley has been quiet as of late, but that all changed earlier today with the release of “Ready.” Wiley had stated that his new music would start taking on darker tones with an emphasis on his signature crooning, it appears he has made good on his promise. “Ready” pulls the listener into a trance like mode, Wiley gently sings and intertwines his words; the kid is really growing as an artist and wordsmith. With all the right doors opening, you should be seeing a lot more from Alex Wiley in 2015, keep an eye out for the dates for his upcoming US/European tour.
