Check Your Local Listings For ‘Papa Hemingway in Cuba’ This Friday

A new biographical drama titled Papa Hemingway in Cuba is opening in select theaters this Friday. The film comes from indie producer/director Bob Yari (Crash, The Illusionist) about young journalist Ed Meyers who, in 1959, travels to Havana to meet his idol Ernest Hemingway in the midst of the Cuban Revolution. Yari directed the film from a script that was written by an old friend of Hemingway, himself: a war correspondent named Denne Bart Petitclerc, who sadly was never able to get the project into full production before he died. Starring in the lead roles of Meyers and Hemingway are actors Giovanni Ribisi (Saving Private Ryan, Avatar) and Adrian Sparks (The Manhattan Project, The Purge: Anarchy), who are supported by James Remar (X-Men: First Class, Django Unchained), Joely Richardson (The Patriot, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo), Shaun Toub (The Kite Runner, Iron Man 3), and Minka Kelly (Just Go With It, The Path). Ernest Hemingway’s granddaughter, Mariel Hemingway, is also making a cameo appearance in the film. The trailer is available on MADE. Be sure to look for it in theaters in your area this weekend.

Mark Wahlberg Eyeing Martin Scorsese To Direct Feature-Film Adaptation Of ‘Boardwalk Empire’

empire

Now that the popular HBO gangster-drama Boardwalk Empire has come to an end, producer Mark Wahlberg is looking to take the material to the big screen. In a recent interview, Wahlberg expressed interest in having Empire’s producer Martin Scorsese direct a film adaptation of the series, the only question is would Scorsese be interested? The legendary filmmaker already trying to balance a full schedule; he is currently filming a rock n’ roll series for HBO, wrapping up production on an upcoming Bill Clinton documentary, and is also expecting to produce and direct a biopic about actor/singer Frank Sinatra, so needless to say he is quite busy. Considering the way that Boardwalk ended on HBO (I won’t give anything away), a film adaptation would most likely involve a different perspective on the already existing story, or a continuation of the story after the fact. Whatever the case we’ll have to wait to see if this gets picked up. Mark Wahlberg currently has a new season of Wahlburgers coming out, and the film-adaptation of his other popular series, Entourage, with original actors Adrian Grenier, Jeremy Piven, Kevin Connolly, Jerry Ferrara, and Kevin Dillon, is expected in theaters on June 5, 2015. Stay tuned.

entourage

After almost five years of delays and postponements, a film adaptation of the HBO series Entourage is finally underway and shooting began earlier this week in Los Angeles with Adrian Grenier, Kevin Connolly, Kevin Dillon, Jerry Ferarra and Jeremy Pivon reuniting in their respective roles. The script was written and is being directed by Doug Ellen, who originally created the series, and picks up several years after the series ended, with Vincent Chase (Adrian Grenier) shooting an adaptation of Dracula. The film has Billy Bob Thornton joining the cast as the Dracula financier, whose son, played by Haley Joel Osment, is sent to LA to oversee the project. Series producer Mark Wahlberg will be joining Ellen for the film’s production responsibilities, along with Stephen Levinson and Wayne Carmona. Supporting cast members also returning for the film include Emmanuelle Chriqui (Sloan), Rhys Coiro (Billy Walsh), Rex Lee (Ari’s assistant Lloyd), Perrey Reeves (Ari’s wife), and Debi Mazar (Vince’s publicist). Stay tuned for more news.

Entourage Cast Finally Ready For Movie

entourage

The cast of Entourage was having some problems negotiating their new contracts for the big-screen adaptation of the hit show. Warner Bros. has finally given the HBO drama a go for the film now that lead actors Adrian Grenier and Jerry Ferrara have closed a deal and agreed to their new contracts for the film. The movie will pick up where the series left off, turning much of the attention to Ari (Jeremy Piven) and his new production company. Production is said to begin early next year, but Warner Bros. has yet to secure a director for the project. Nevertheless, Entourage seems to be getting its big-screen break after all. Now we just play the waiting game.

Entourage Movie Delayed

entourage

Audiences have been waiting for the anticipated feature-length adaptation of the HBO series Entourage since the series ended over a year ago. Filming was supposed to have begun back in May, but that has been delayed indefinitely because the cast members are holding out for more money on their contracts. Jeremy Piven has signed on to reprise his role as Ari in the film, which will pick up where the series left off with Ari potentially running his own studio and hiring Vinny for a part in one of his movies. That being said, Adrian Grenier (Vinny) has yet to sign on for the project. Jerry Ferrara (Turtle) is also holding out on finalizing a deal, but reports have indicated that Kevin Connolly (Eric) has signed on. Let’s see how greedy Grenier and Ferrara get before they finally decide to go ahead with the project, because we all know an Entourage movie without their presence would pretty much be a box office fail.

Adrian Peterson Helmet Cam

AP was the first if not one of the first to fully use GoPro’s new helmet cam. The whole thing is a new experiment being done by the NFL, which rumors have it, may lead to refs eventually wearing the cameras. After watching the video, I now know what it is like to run like the wind. Check out the link above as AP hits gaps and brings some humor into the everyday life of training camp.
