London Film Festival

Tis the season of film fests! The Chicago and New York Film Festivals are both happening this fall, as well as the Venice and Toronto celebrations. London’s Film Festival has just released more information on their film line-up for 2013. The New York Festival, like the London Film Festival, will be kicking off with director Paul Greengrass’s Captain Philips, and the Venice fest is opening with Alfonso Cuaron’s Gravity. The New York fest will also close with the new movie from Spike Jones, entitled Her, starring Joaquin Phoenix and Scarlett Johansson. Her revolves around a man living in the near-future who begins to fall in love with an AI robot (voiced by Johansson). The London Film Festival will be closing with Saving Mr. Banks, the biopic that tells of the making of Mary Poppins, starring Emma Thompson and Tom Hanks. Hanks will be getting some good marketing this year; both his films are based on real-life characters; some heavier material since his last major appearance with Halle Berry in 2012’s Cloud Atlas. The London Film Festival will run from the 9th to the 20th of October and is being put on by British Film Institue.
