The A$AP Mob is currently riding the wave off the Cozy Tapes: Vol.2, while they continue their international “Too Cozy” tour. The 17 track project is a kaleidoscope of fresh production and features from a few industry giants like Big Sean, Gucci Mane, Frank Ocean, and Quavo. Cozy Tapes: Vol.2 feels like a mixtape which in this day and age is actually a good thing, the record has a looseness about it that suggests that there is much more to come. A$AP Rocky obviously serves as the ring leader, but Ferg, Twelvyy, Na$t, and Playboi Carti all show off notable verses. As the A$AP Mob grows into a formidable label of cohorts it will be interesting to see how they manage all of these individual identities. Check out Cozy Tapes: Vol.2 below via iTunes and make sure to click the link below for tickets to their Minneapolis tour stop.

The guys from Free Minds took things to an entirely different level in 2017. Not only do they throw some of the biggest shows in the state, their artists are starting to be at the forefront of the Twin Cities’ hip hop scene. Tonight, they’re bringing Baton Rouge’s own, YoungBoy Never Broke Again, up for his first appearance in the Twin Cities. The 17 yr old rapper took off after the release of his 2016 mixtape 38 Baby, then managed to dodge an attempted murder charge, among a slew of other mixtape releases. Free Minds’ own GainesFM will open up the night while Tiiiiiiiiiip holds down the 1s & 2s. This show is 18+ and GA tickets are still available for $20 or you can upgrade to reserved seating for $35. Earlier this year, KAS released a record titled “Arizona,” but has since pulled back on new releases. That trend began to change earlier this month with his feature on Squire’s track “Daydream.” Last week, he popped back up with a self produced record dubbed, “Nirvana;” which sees a feature from songstress Joz. KAS has a way with vibes and Joz’ vocals help to add texture throughout the entire song. The kid has really grown into himself as an artist and looks like one of the more versatile up and comers. Another solid record from KAS, don’t be surprised if you hear this one on the radio. Check out “Nirvana” above and make sure to stay tuned for more from KAS.

The CRAM boys have had a busy year, whether performing at festivals across the nation or opening for national headliners in the Twin Cities, these guys are clearly making their mark. Front man Jaylap recently released a visual for a solo track dubbed “Do Like Me.” The record’s wavy production mixes perfectly with Jaylap’s infectious chorus, while the visuals provide a nice compliment. Say what you want, it’s obvious that Jaylap and the CRAM guys are doing something right. Check out the video above and be on the look out for more from CRAM.
At this point it’s no secret to Minnesotans that J Kelr & Finding Novyon dropped one of the most highly totted albums of 2016. Since then Finding Novyon has made the move to L.A. amidst what almost feels like an exodus of talent from the Twin Cities region. A few weeks back the duo dropped the instrumental version of their album, but also released a record that may not have made the initial cut. “Hennepin Ave” is a smooth ride down memory lane, Novyon attacks the MC friendly production with the precision of a boxer preparing for the next big match. Bars overflowing with honesty offer a rare glimpse into the downside of the “come up,” check out “Hennepin Ave” below and stay tuned for more from Finding Novyon.
The SPVCE crew has been on the move as of late notably taking over PYRMD & Icehouse on any given night of the week. Rapper, artist, producer, and supreme cheefer, RP Hooks; will be holding his birthday celebration at Icehouse with a cast of DJs that should keep the party going all night. The event will feature sets from DJ Cam Jones, DJ BVCKWOODS, DJ Neekasodope, Koffa, and special guest Topper Atwood. If you know like we know, you can bet the on stage performances wont stop there, this one is 21+ and the door is only $7.
