The guys from Phenom have always been super clean while remaining low key. They’ve found a great aesthetic and clientele base that has allowed them to branch out into California with a 3rd location. As of late things have been slow for their flagship releases, but their “Gold Script” tee has been turning heads. Flashy, yet clean, the “Gold Script” tee is currently available for $32. The good people from Phenom recently dropped some serious heat with their new “Killa Bees” tee. Paying homage to one of the greatest hip hop groups of all time, the Wu-Tang Clan, the tee celebrates their off shoot albums in collaboration with a wide range of affiliates. The Wu-Tang Killa Bees was an all-star team of producers and MCs, the tee also shouts out the Wu’s first album Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers). A nice addition to anyone’s wardrobe, especially with summer on the way; you can buy yours now for $32 via Phenom’s web-store.
While reminiscing about my days living in Chicago, one of the memories that always stands out most was my oft-sightings of Left Hand Wave artwork throughout the city. Walks along Milwaukee avenue or Division would yield multiple sightings of the secretive crews street art, most commonly being a kid in some sort of suit (/bunny/banana is classic) waving with his left hand (hence the name). Some would be torn down, others would remain for months or until they succumbed to the elements. Since then they’ve began making prints, clothing, stickers and a host of other items that can all be purchased via their web-store. Take a look at some of what they offer above and click the link below for a better look. Left Handed Wave

If you haven’t been over to SSSDude-Nutz yet make that a priority for the future. This weekend is looking like a glorious one for anyone in the Twin Cities. Not only will we celebrate the life of the late great Prince, Record Store Day festivities will also be plentiful across the metro. One of the more notable RSD events is Fifth Element/Rhymesayer’s annual sale at their headquarters in Uptown. This year they’ll be offering 20% of select vinyls and up to 50% off select CDs, they will also have a boat load of merch and used vinyl to dig through. If that wasn’t enough, there will also be live sets from DJ Keezy, Destiny Roberts, Nazeem & Spencer Joles, and DJ Just Nine. This event is free and open to all ages, make sure to come early if you’re serious about scoring some of the hotter deals.
Familia and Vancouver skate shop, BLVD, recently collaborated on a new tee shirt that you can snag at either of their locations. The “Taco” tee is a solid pick up for the summer and will only run you $24, click the link below for a better look.
Nike SB has had a quiet start to the year, but one clean pair of kicks they’ve released comes in the form of a rider edition. Ishod Wair rides for SB and was recently blessed with his own kicks, the black leather on black suede falling nicely behind the graphite swoosh. A solid pair of black sneaks that should last you through the year, these are currently available in store at Cal-Surf for $95; stop by if you like what you see.
If you’ve never been far from the Twin Cities, you might find it surprising that our fashion scene is actually one of the most influential in the country. Sure, we’re nothing like the powerhouses of NYC, LA, or Chicago, but our street wear scene has been on the upswing for quite some time. The fact that our thrift community is so strong inflames a movement that would usually start and stop with the local brands, this is what separates the Twin Cities. Local shops are popping up with hand made garments, vintage pieces, and quality items at great prices. One of which is The Glo-Op, currently operating via Etsy or by appointment, the shop has really started to garner a lot of attention. They offer a wide variety of vintage clothing, most of which are unisex, however inventory is limited so when you see something you like, you better grab it. Check out a few pics above and click the link below for a more comprehensive look at what they have to offer.
