Chicago’s own Lucki Eck$ will be in the Twin Cities next week for what should be a good show. Lucki has been on a roll since the release of his latest project FreeWave II, no stranger to the streets, it’s no surprise that he’s amassed a huge cult following among the youth. The event is 15+ and the door will be $17, no location announced yet, but you can RSVP via the link below for a direct e-mail.

After successfully bringing D.R.A.M to Minneapolis awhile back, Red Bull and Greenroom Magazine are teaming up yet again to bring Mick Jenkins to Minnesota. The Chicago rapper has proved time and time again that he’s one of the windy cities top lyricists. The event will also feature St. Louis’ own Smino, and hometown favorite Dizzy Fae; can’t beat that lineup for only $3. This show is 18+ and tickets are $10 without RSVP, so make sure to click the link below.
Chance The Rapper has been on fire since the release of his critically acclaimed mixtape, Coloring Book. Leading up to it’s release, the Chicago rapper could often be seen wearing a simple snap back hat with a stitched number 3 on the front, it was even the face of his promotional campaign. Now it appears Chance has decided to double up by making the infamous hat available to the public via various New Era accounts. These should be on shelves now for $45 bucks, they sold out instantly on Chance’s merch website, so your best bet is to pray for a restock or stalk your local New Era retailer.
Location: 315 14th Avenue SE, Minneapolis
When: Sunday, October 9th @ 10PM
Next Sunday, the Kitty Cat Klub is looking like the place to be. Chicago’s own Vagabond Maurice & Sage The 64th Wonder will be in town for what should be a great performance. They’ll be joined by local favorites Devata Daun, Nick Jordan, and KAS; wrapping up a solid lineup. Rolling Rock will be sponsoring the event so come thirsty, this one is 21+ and FREE; click the link below for more information.
Chicago’s own Vagabond Maurice recently dropped a track dubbed, “Flowers For Icarus.” Produced by Chinsaku, the horn heavy instrumental rolls along with the bass nicely, allowing Vagabond to show off a variety of flows. You’ll probably want to play this one 2 or 3 times, the metaphors and references are too abundant to gather with one play through. Vagabond continues to impress, he’ll be live next week for what should be a good night. Peep “Flowers For Icarus” above and click the link below for more info regarding his upcoming show in MPLS.
Location: 6 W 6th Street, Minneapolis
When: Sunday, September 11th @ 6:30PM
Both Chicago and the Twin Cities’s hip hop scenes have shared a nice amount of success over the last few years. As some of the more notable graduates like Chance The Rapper, Vic Mensa, Allan Kingdom, and Finding Novyon gain footholds on higher ground, both metros have an entirely new crop of artists blowing up. Supa Bwe & Kembe X are two of Chicago’s best up and coming artists, the latter recently receiving a deal from Kendrick Lamar’s TDE record label. If you’re unfamiliar you should definitely dig into a few projects, this event has a low key feel but it is a must attend for anyone looking for a great hip hop performance. Lucien Parker will open up the night and DJAY Mando will hold down the 1s & 2s, this event is 18+ and tickets are on sale now for $15, click the link below to cop yours now.

A couple of weeks ago we received some new music from Musa Reems of Children of I.L.L.I.O.S. A wordsmith with a great ear for instrumentals, Musa’s solo affair is only 2 tracks but worth the listen. On “Eclipse,” the budding MC shows off his poise switching gears effortlessly as the record progresses. No word on if there is more on the way, but we’re definitely listening. Check out Another Dos(e) above and stay tuned for more.
Last night, we made our way into 7th Street Entry for Rich Garvey’s album release for Man of the People. Let’s just say, he did not disappoint with this show. The sold out crowd built energy from each performance, making for a hell of a show from start to finish. Make sure to stay locked here for more pictures to come and peep Garvey’s latest album below.
