In about a years’ time, OG Maco has risen the ranks, becoming one of the industry’s most anticipated artists. Since linking up with QC (Quality Control, Migos), his rise gained even more momentum landing him on the doorsteps of some major labels. Minneapolis’ own Muja Messiah recently dropped his project God Kissed It The Devil Missed It for all of our listening pleasure. Muja took to Twitter earlier today to release a new video for his track “Pocket Full of Slave Owners” with support from Brother Ali and Boots Riley. A legendary trio, Muja, Boots & Brother Ali all go in over the Mike The Martyr produced record. Shot in the Bay Area, the sunny weather is a warm welcome to those stuck in Minnesota’s increasingly cold winter. “Pocket Full of Slave Owners” is filled with substance that will have you pausing, rewinding and re-thinking how America has systematically imprisoned all of us. A solid visual from one of Minneapolis’ top MCs, let alone the supporting verses from two other titans of Hip Hop. If you haven’t check out God Kissed It The Devil Missed It, you should do that right after checking out the visual for “Pocket Full of Slave Owners” above.
Chicago collective The $hoots recently dropped a new visual for their bangin track “Plottin'”. Off of their DANK EP, “Plottin'” is an ultra gritty record that sees 20 Gramz and Riki Starr unleash a pair of dope verses. The decaying and dilapidated landscape in the video matches the record’s sound well, creating a visually pleasing body of work. These guys are definitely on the come up, peep the video for “Plottin'” above and be on the look out for more from The $hoots Collective.

Director Paul Greengrass with Matt Damon on the set of The Bourne Supremacy (2004)
Matt Damon recently announced that he and director Paul Greengrass would be reuniting for another Jason Bourne adventure, but the director has more on his upcoming schedule than another endeavor into familiar territory. Greengrass (Green Zone, Captain Phillips) is in talks at Sony Pictures to direct a new adaptation of George Orwell’s frighteningly predictive novel 1984. The book was published in 1948 and takes place in the midst of a futuristic war where surveillance technology is virtually unavoidable to the general public, very appropriate in our modern world where surveillance is a constant subject of controversy and federal agencies are under high scrutiny for surveillance methods that may or may not be morally sound. Greengrass will direct the project from a screen adaptation by James Graham, and Scott Rudin, who worked with Greengrass on Captain Phillips in 2013, will produce the project at Sony. Thus far there are no actors attached to the film. Stay tuned.
