– This weekend, MADE’s feature artist for the Weekend Classics is, The Gap Band. We figured it is appropriate to put our grown man on and pay homage to a great band.
The Gap Band, which featured brothers Robert, Charlie and Ronnie Wilson, didn’t come into fruition until about 1973. As their first two albums had a core funk sound, they never had true success until singing with Lonnie Simmons at Total Experience Records. With the help of some additional staffing and a 12 person band, The Gap Band gained a lot of ground with the releases of The Gap Band, II and III. These are the records where more of their recognizable songs were released, such as : “You Dropped a Bomb on Me,” “Yearning for Your Love,” and “Early in the Morning”.
The Gap Band made a huge impact in the music industry during the 70s-80s which is why we felt it was a good group for week #8 of the Weekend Classics. Aside from their awesomely cheesy videos, the group did link up with other key artist from their decade including: Stevie Wonder and Zapp. Unfortunately, the fun did stop, as the band quit playing with one another after a solid 40 years. Press play and enjoy some creativity to its fullest from The Gap Band.
Don’t forget to stay tuned every weekend for your Weekend Classics.

We have been following Meta for a while now and lets just say this is a highly anticipated album by the Minnesota emcee. In Meta’s third installment, he offers a brand new vibe on the record than what he did on HIP2 (Still Happy I’m Present) .
BlackFriday, Meta seems to be coming into his own with a nice laidback feel throughout the album. As usual, Meta continues to spit real shit, developing a solid message/story throughout each song. A strong point in this record is that it is not repetitive and can easily be played front to back; the longest track is just over 3mn.
Press Play, Replay, or whatever it is, just make sure to peep it here and let us know what you think.
