Runner Runner Hits Theaters This Friday

Brad Furman’s upcoming action thriller Runner Runner is coming to theaters this Friday. Starring Justin Timberlake and Ben Affleck as a college student who gets involved with a high stakes gambler (respectively), the film is the first release for director Furman since The Lincoln Lawyer (2011), which starred Matthew McConaughey and Marisa Tomei. The film was a hit at the box office but failed to secure any major awards or nominations. Nevertheless, fans of Furman have been waiting in high hopes for this next release, which should prove to be pretty entertaining after seeing the trailer. Ben Affleck may actually be decent in this one too, but let’s not get too far ahead of ourselves. Check out the trailer here on MADE.

With Walter White’s epic award-winning tale coming to an end, the fourth season of AMC’s smash hit The Walking Dead is coming back to Sunday night on October 13th! The last season left off pretty inconclusively, with the Governor and his remaining henchmen leaving the townspeople to Rick and his crew inside the prison. We also lost Andrea in the very last episode The new season is sure to be full of action and suspense. Here’s hoping Rick can keep everything together! Check out the trailer here on MADE, and watch the season opener Sunday the 13th at 9/8c.

Breaking Bad Series Finale

Tonight marks the end of the series that has become so popular, the Chicago White Sox felt the need to borrow its logo to try to get viewers to watch their season-closer instead! Breaking Bad became a smash hit when it aired on AMC back in 2008 with one of the most memorable series openings ever filmed. The story of a dying chemistry teacher who turns Meth-chef in order to provide for his family after he dies drew us in the minute we saw a man in a dress shirt, underwear, and a gas mask frantically driving an RV with two dead bodies in the back and an unconscious passenger through the middle of the desert. Even more engrossing is the progression of Walter White’s greed and self-consumption in his ability to cook the purest Meth in the southwestern United States.

The show has earned Bryan Cranston, Aaron Paul, and Anna Gunn Emmy awards for their performances as Walter, Jesse, and Skylar and has secured many other awards and nominations, including three Golden Globes and the 2013 Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series. The series opening scene even won Lynne Willingham the 2008 Emmy for Outstanding Single-Camera Picture Editing for a Drama Series! This show will surely go down as one of the most memorable and intense dramas that television has ever seen. The award winning writers have done an excellent job bringing Walter White’s story to the screen with such suspense and intensity, and such an epic could not have ended any better way, with all loose ends tied, and Walter’s mission to leave his money behind accomplished (I won’t say anymore in case you haven’t watched it yet!). To fill in the gap that is now your Sunday evening, be sure to catch up on the last season of AMC’s The Walking Dead, and watch the fourth season opener on Sunday, October 13th at 9/8c.

Weekend Classics #3 – Zapp

Ooowwweeeeeee! Zapp, baby! One of main influences and inspiring artists for the whole West Coast Hi-Hop scene, especially G-Funk. This soul-funk band was formed in the late 70s, and remains to be one of the funkiest bands to play on your stereo. The band consisted of four brothers:  Larry, Roger, Lester and Terry Troutman, with Greg Jackson on keyboards and background vocals.

Shortly after meeting George Clinton, the band was able to strike a record deal with Warner Brothers, and released their first album in the summer of 1980. Immediately following its release they began opening up for acts such as Prince, The Commodores, and Kool and the Gang. Just five years later,1985, the group had scored five gold records, and had become a top concert draw all around the world.

Sit back, vibe-out, and enjoy the funkedelic-groove by ZAPP….That TALK BOX BABY!!!
